Al's Caring Pals Training
Hands-On Training for Local Facilitators
As part of the Al’s Caring Pals package, local facilitators participate in Wingspan’s two-day training to prepare them to conduct educational sessions with groups of home-based child care providers. The training is derived from our Here, Now and Down the Road training for parent educators and combines information about the program content with opportunities to explore and practice delivering actual activities from the leader’s manual. Training participants enhance their understanding of the unique nature of caring for children in a home-based setting and ways to enrich the child care environment.
Training topics to prepare local facilitators include:
- How to apply the concepts of resilience and protective factors to daily interactions with children
- Strategies that promote the social and emotional development of young children
- Effective use of experiential learning approaches
- Strategies to support effective implementation of Al’s Caring Pals
